About SYOF

Organised by the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF), the Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF) acts as a platform for youths to showcase their sporting talents. The SYOF is a legacy of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games (YOG) held in Singapore in 2010 and subsequently in Nanjing, China.

In 2011, the SYOF was first started to celebrate the first anniversary of the inaugural Youth Olympic Games. The SYOF hopes to inspire more Singaporeans to take up sports and bring youths together to foster stronger friendship through sports.

Opened to youths aged 18 and below, the SYOF aims to promote Olympic values of Friendship, Excellence and Respect. The second and third edition of the SYOF was held in 2013 and 2014 respectively with a total of 6 sports each. The event was held over a week in various competition venues in Singapore.

Our Objectives:

  1. Strong engagement of youths
  2. Quality competition and organisation
  3. Cultivate sportsmanship and sporting culture
  4. Profile and showcase athletes/officials
  5. Create fun and festive atmosphere for everyone

Message from Chairman of SOF

“It is my great pleasure to invite all young athletes in Singapore to participate in the Singapore Youth Olympic Festival (SYOF).

The SYOF, a legacy from the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, has moved from a biennial event to an annual festival promoting the Olympic values of Excellence, Friendship and Respect. This year’s edition will take us to the will include nine sports, which are popular among our youth in Singapore.

In 2014, our Team Singapore athletes made us proud at the Nanjing Youth Olympic Games – winning four medals in shooting and sailing. Bernie Chin and Samantha Yom became the first Singaporeans to win gold at the Youth Olympic Games.

I would like to encourage all supporters and sports fans to cheer on aspiring athletes in their sporting endeavours. I would also like to thank the organisers, volunteers, participants, officials, sports partners and sponsors for your continued support. I look forward to your participation at the SYOF.”

Yours sincerely
Mr Ng Ser Miang
